Texas State Veterans Nursing Home

Staff worked with John Soules, Sr. and SCMUD to finalize the utility easement and construction of the sewer line to serve both the veterans home and the TEDC Bioscience Park.

In 2009, TEDC agreed to provide funds for materials to construct the sewer line.

The facility will be open in November 2011.

The facility will accommodate 100 veterans and employ between 100 and 110.

The project is funded by a $12 million grant by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and $3 million by the Texas Veterans Land Board.

Estimated cost is $18 million, which comes from federal stimulus funds.
